"Back to School" season means families are shopping and preparing themselves and their children to return to classrooms across the country.  It is also the time of year for health checkups and preventative vaccines. Locally, nationally and, internationally the importance of vaccines in supporting healthy childhood is a fundamental element of safeguarding children from mostly uncomfortable but, potentially serious, ailments.

In these times, when journalists are vilified and facts are lost in intentional deceptions, it pains readers of the Chicago Defender to learn that Wednesday, July 10, 2019 was the final day of publication for the print issue of this historically influential newspaper.      
Commentary on the Presidential Debate: A week from today is July 4th. Most years, I focus on planting, cooking or visiting friends. Thanks to Presidential politics, this year is different -- I'm thinking about debates.

How Do they Stack Up?

Researchers from Harvard Medical School, Mass., the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) have published original research entitled, "Effect of a Workplace Wellness Program on Employee Health and Economic Outcomes: A Randomized Clinical Trial" to address questions about the effectiveness of workplace wellness programs.
