The Law Library is now offering the LexisNexis Study Aids and the West Academic Study Aids. These are available to CWRU Law Students.
LexisNexis Study Aids prefers the following internet browsers: Apple Safari; Google Chrome; Internet Explorer 10 (or higher); or Mozilla Firefox.
1. The system will prompt you with CWRU Single Sign-On (Asks for your CWRU email login and password). Logging in will save your notes, annotations & highlighting. Access the detailed LexisNexis Overdrive digital library instructions here
2. Search by title, author, subject or keyword; or browse the content listing and select a publication. Clicking the Menu
function displays categories by practice area, jurisdiction and featured collections.
3. Clicking the Borrow
button places the volume in your Checkouts.
4. Clicking the Save to List
function places the volume places the title in your bookshelf list and you may return later to borrow it. Use this feature to easily locate the titles you use most often. More information about titles is found in the the Additional Information

. You may borrow up to 10 titles at one time. You may place up to 10 titles on hold at one time, when the titles you want are not available.
5. Reading options available
for the Study Aids include: Amazon Kindle, ePub or Overdrive Read, via your web browser.

button launches Overdrive Read
to read in your web browser.
6. Click the Return Title
button to remove the book from your Checkouts.

West Academic Study Aids
(Off campus access requires VPN)
The Judge Ben C. Green Law Library also provides a subscription to the West Academic Study Aids Subscription for all CWRU law students.
West Academic is not connected with Westlaw Thomson Reuters. They are separate companies now, though users are offered a link to Westlaw from within the current West Academic site.
West Academic prompts you to create your own custom login and password
the first time you use it. The advantage to logging in with your own login and password is that the system will then save your notes, annotations & highlighting when you leave the study aids you are using.
This system provides a link to search tips
. You may search the full content of the database. You may also choose to select books by browsing within several a categories:
- 1L Subjects
- 2L/3L Subjects
- Academic Success
- Career Success
There is a built-in dictionary providing definitions when using the global search box.
All content is available via your choice of a web-connected computer, tablet or smartphone.
