There are over 100 writing contests for law students. The Law Library maintains a list on the intranet.* The contests cover a wide range of topics from ediscovery, to disability, to gerrymandering. For example:
The Securities Law Writing Competition:
Eligibility: Writers must be enrolled in a U.S. law school for the fall 2017 semester. The papers must have a single author and may be either unpublished or published in 2016 or to be published in 2017 or 2018.
Topic: Securities Law
Deadline: November 10, 2017
Prizes: 1st place $5,000, 2nd place $3,000, and 3rd place $2,000.
