According to  Law 360,  (available on Lexis in the News section), the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Richard A. Posner is retiring from the court on Saturday of Labor Day weekend.  Posner, 78,  was appointed to the court by President Ronald Reagan in 1981 and served as its chief judge, from 1993 to 2000.  While on the court he authored more than 3,300 opinions.  Posner is a senior lecturer at University of Chicago School of Law and plans to continue teaching and continue his prodigious scholarship.  He intends to concentrate on social justice reform. He has written numerous books, articles, and commentary, many from a law and economics perspective. His publications also demonstrate his interests in law and literature, provide instruction for young lawyers (and old) and also reveal some of his personal beliefs about legal writing (and law reviews).
