The Career Services Office (CSO) is committed to assisting students and alumni in all aspects of their career development, from job search strategy and interview preparation to professional development and beyond. We also actively engage with employers to promote the School of Law and to encourage them to consider our students when making hiring decisions.
Reciprocity
Students and graduates seeking opportunities outside the Cleveland area may want to take advantage of reciprocity. This allows another law school to grant you access to their career services resources. Reciprocity is always requested and granted on an individual basis. In other words, the CSO makes the reciprocity request on your behalf.

Each law school has its own policy on what it will offer to someone from another law school. The CSO has copies of other schools' reciprocity policies. You may also find information by going to www.nalp.org or by going to an individual law school's website. Make special note of any restrictions. These typically include:

- Reciprocity closed during the fall interview season
- Length of access (i.e. one visit, one month)
- Access to resources (i.e. no access to current job postings, no meetings with counselors)
- Multiple reciprocity requests to other law schools in the area
- Reciprocity granted on a one-to-one basis

Certain geographic areas are very popular among Case Law students (i.e. New York City, Chicago and Washington, D.C.). Therefore, in order to maximize reciprocity opportunities for Case Law students and graduates, the CSO will limit the number of reciprocity request it submits on an individual's behalf to one per geographic area. If a request is denied, we will contact additional institutions, as necessary. Exceptions will be made for requests to law schools in geographic areas having a substantial number of its students requesting access to Case Law's resources.

Reciprocity is a valuable favor from another law school. Therefore, if you are requesting reciprocity, please follow these two rules:

- Ask only if you definitely need and will definitely use the resources available to you at the other law school. Do not use reciprocity to do "window shopping" in prime markets. Once a reciprocity request is made to another law school, we use up one of our favors with that school, whether or not you use that school's resources. We cannot cancel a reciprocity request if you change your mind.
- Request reciprocity when you are ready to use it. There is a clock on your reciprocity to the other law school. It begins on the letter's mailing date. Once your time has expired, you will need to reapply.
