Hometown:
Born and raised in nearby Shaker Heights
Undergraduate:
B.A. from University of Michigan in political science, M.A. from George Washington University in national security studies.
Favorite Classes
National Security Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law.
Favorite Professors
Prof. Benza made Criminal Procedure come alive with his passion and real-world experience. Prof. McMunigal is the consummate teacher, and clearly puts great effort into refining his pedagogy. Prof. Hill does a great job of showing the relevance of Constitutional Law in today’s debates. Prof. Strassfeld has the best jokes.
Law School Activities
With two kids at home I don’t have time for extra-curriculars myself, but I brought my oldest daughter on campus to the 1L Games and a friend’s a capella concert.
Achievements
Hugo Grotius Scholar, Cox Center Fellow, Dean’s List.
Employment
I currently serve as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard, which is paying for part of my tuition. Following graduation, I will be assigned as a judge advocate at a Coast Guard legal office.
Advice
Leave your laptop at home! Even if you have the Spartan discipline (CWRU’s mascot, by the way) to ignore your Facebook, Gmail, and fantasy football results, students tend to just type whatever the professor is saying without fully processing and comprehending it. We are here to become lawyers, not transcriptionists.

Footnote:
Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
