Q&A

Favorite aspect of law school
In addition to the interesting and challenging nature of the material and education, I was especially happy to start gaining legal work experience the summer after my first year. I also made some wonderful friends in law school.

Favorite class in law school
Criminal Procedure because my professor was also the dean at the time and a former sheriff. I appreciated that he brought the law enforcement perspective to the class. I also really enjoyed Legislation with an adjunct who is now Ohio’s Attorney General; he would push and push in his questioning of you until you finally hit a wall.

Advice for law students
You can maintain balance in your life while also being fully committed to law school and learning. You’ll have less time to do the things you enjoy outside of school, but you can fit them in. And please get good sleep; you’re young, but you still need it. Finally, ask for help if you need it; there are so many support services and supportive people here.

Favorite places in Cleveland
Metroparks, Rocky River Park, West Side Market, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Sokolowski’s University Inn, Lola, Mitchell’s Ice Cream

Favorite non-work activities
Spending time with my family and travel. I also try to be physically active, enjoy the outdoors, and read an occasional book.

The law affects every area of life, so I loved learning about what affects and drives our society and beyond. Law school made me more aware of our world and the politics governing our society. In a nutshell, it made me smarter. I’m also very grateful for the friends I made in law school.

Favorite class in law school
Torts – how could you not like learning about torts?

Advice for law students
Live your life – workout, socialize, read non-legal books, watch movies – just take breaks from the grind of law school. Yes, you need to prioritize and focus on school, but you need balance. It’s important to take a step back and relax.
