Who Do I Go To?
University Resources & Policies
Sarah McFarlane Polly, Associate Dean for Student Services
You will find that my door is almost always open and I will quickly respond to your questions, needs, and concerns. There are many great things about our law school, including our outstanding faculty and innovative curriculum. In addition, I think one of the best features of our school is our committed and responsive staff; our focus is always on you, the students, and how we can ensure you have the best possible experience here.
Q&A
Favorite aspect of law school
In addition to the interesting and challenging nature of the material and education, I was especially happy to start applying what I was learning through summer and school employment starting the summer after my first year. Also, I made some wonderful friends in law school.
Favorite class in law school
Criminal Procedure because my professor, who was also the dean of our law school at the time, was a former sheriff. I appreciated the law enforcement perspective he brought to the class. I also loved Constitutional Law and all of the advanced con law classes I took.
Advice for law students
You can maintain balance in your life while also being fully committed to law school and learning. You’ll have less time to do the things you enjoy outside of school, but you can fit them in. Please get good sleep; you’re young, but you still need it. Finally, ask for help if you need it; there are so many support services and supportive people here.

Q&A
Advice for law students
Take advantage of everything law school has to offer. You are here for a top quality legal education, but you can’t spend every minute studying. Join student clubs and organizations, attend lectures and CLEs, get to know your fellow classmates, and build your professional legal network outside of the law school. Be involved.
