Student Organizations
We are proud of the extensive student organizations our law school offers. This not only enhances your law school experience, but is a wonderful way to remain even more engaged and active during your time here.
Our Office of Student Services takes very seriously its commitment to support our students and student organizations. We work closely with our student organizations and student leaders to give them the assistance that they need to thrive and succeed. We also provide advice and assistance to students who wish to start a new student organization. Following are the links to more information about student organizations recognized during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Appellate Practice/Moot Court Program
The Moot Court Board sponsors teams for:
The National Moot Court Competition, a fall competition debating federal constitutional issues;
The American Bar Association competition, the spring competition which also considers federal constitutional issues; and
The American Intellectual Property Law Association competition, which argues intellectual property topics
The Moot Court Board also organizes and runs Case Western Reserve School of Law’s intramural Dean Dunmore competition.
Students interested in competing on moot court teams on issues involving constitutional law and civil rights begin by taking the Appellate Practice course. This year-long course includes intensive brief-writing instruction in the first semester. In the second semester students engage in practice oral arguments and then compete in the School of Law’s intramural Dean Dunmore Moot Court competition. The most outstanding participants represent the school in national competitions during their third year.
Recent years have seen rising performance by the teams. In the fall of 2007 Case Western Reserve won Best Brief in the regional competition; the same brief, submitted in a national contest for winning briefs from any moot court program, was ranked 2nd in the nation. The following spring the ABA team reached the semi-finals in Dallas, Texas. The National Team from fall 2008 also reached the semi-finals, and lost their chance to go on to the national competition in New York by 1/10 of a point. “It was really frustrating to lose that way,” acknowledged Pete Morrison, “but I would definitely recommend moot court. It was a great experience – exciting, rewarding, and educational.”
Anyone interested in information regarding the Appellate Practice course or moot court program should contact Professor Karla L. Bell at klb54@case.edu, 216-368-2605.

Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
