Summer Work Experience in Law
The
Summer Work Experience in Law
(SWEL) program, sponsored by the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati-Cincinnati Bar Association Round Table, offers Cincinnati-area minority high school and college students the opportunity to gain a hands-on introduction to the legal profession.
The students are placed in various law-related agencies and companies over the summer. In addition to the work experience, the students tour various law schools around the state. CWRU School of Law faculty and staff make presentations to the students on preparing for law school generally and CWRU specifically. We alternate with the other area law schools on providing food and lodging for the SWEL students during their visit. Approximately 40 students participate in SWEL each year. Footnote:
Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
