Summer Work Experience in Law
CWRU School of Law is a partner in Ohio’s new
Law & Leadership Institute
. The Supreme Court of Ohio, along with the Ohio State Bar Association, Ohio Bar Foundation, the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education, local bar associations, and all Ohio law schools have joined in this pipeline program designed to help increase minority enrollment in the state’s law schools by reaching out to young students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The program, which includes both summer and academic year components, gives students from inner-city schools an intensive introduction to both law and college-level work. The goal is to prepare youth from underserved communities to compete at high academic levels through use of intense legal and educational programming as a tool for developing leadership skills and facilitating the pursuit of higher education. Over the long term, this program aims to improve the administration of justice in Ohio by encouraging students from all walks of life to consider a career at the bench or bar, thus improving the profession’s diversity and giving the citizen’s of Ohio the opportunity to be both judged and represented by their peers.
Case Western has partnered with Cleveland-Marshall College of Law for the Cleveland site. The curriculum is taught by law students from the two law schools.

Footnote:
Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
