Government Documents

The Law Library is part of the United States Federal Depository Library Program.

The Library became a United States Depository in 1978 and currently selects 16% of the publications offered through this program. The library’s collection includes official reports of court cases, official agency publications, congressional prints, hearings, Supreme Court publications, Department of Justice publications and selected publications of health and medical agencies, publications of employment and labor-related agencies and historical materials dealing with the three branches of government.

Between 1982 and 1985, the Law Library became the first Canadian Depository in a non-Canadian law library and the first Canadian Depository in the state of Ohio. Until 2013, when Canada's Depository Services Program stopped distributing tangible publications, the Law Library was one of two Canadian depositories in the state of Ohio and one of two American law libraries with a Canadian Depository program. The library’s collection focused on legislative material and material relating to international relations, international trade, human rights and terrorism.

Visitors may ask the librarian at the Reference Desk for assistance with government documents and legal research during scheduled hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. These hours may be extended late in the academic year.
