Inaugural Women in Law & Leadership Conference a Success

Our law school presented a daylong conference about the role of women as general counsel and senior leadership partners. Held on October 19, the conference featured a vibrant and dynamic discussion of the issues faced by women. Throughout the day, general counsel, in-house counsel, and senior attorneys examined the topic from a number of perspectives, and shared the unique challenges faced in these roles. Over ninety people attended this event, which offered peer exchange and networking opportunities, as well as professional development.
Speakers included both the School of Law's accomplished alumni and other high-level attorneys. The keynote address was given by Laura Quatela '82, President, Eastman Kodak. Panel topics included: The Strategic Role of Women in General Counsel: Fostering Dialogue, Improving the Bottom Line and Driving Change; How Skilled Women Lawyers Build Consensus; Key Challenges for Women General Counsel and Women Senior Partners; Developing Strategic Leaders: Women Counsel and Senior Women Leaders; A Success Story of Driving Strategic Objectives and Diversity; and Driving Strategic Objectives & Partnership with Outside Counsel and the General Counsel's Office. This daylong symposium offered valuable networking opportunities, as well as a chance for junior level attorneys to learn from the experience of senior women. The law school looks forward to continuing our efforts for women in these leadership roles.
