Students participating in the 8th Annual Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer Legal Academy

Our law school hosted the 8th Annual Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer Legal Academy during the weeks of June 18 and 25. The Summer Legal Academy offers an intensive two-week law school experience to approximately twenty students entering the 12th grade at Cleveland city and suburban schools. The goal of the program is reduce the racial inequity in membership of the local bar and bench by introducing minority students, and primarily African-American students, to the law and the legal profession. The Summer Legal Academy takes the students through the litigation process and culminates in a mock trial. The program is co-sponsored by Case Western, Cleveland-Marshall, the Norman S. Minor Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the Law School Admission Council, and the U.S. District Court, N.D. Ohio.

Law school faculty and students volunteer to help participating students prepare for their litigation exercises and the mock trial. We congratulate all of these students for participating and it was an honor hosting you at our law school!
