Professor Speaks at Watergate Symposium
Professor Jonathan Entin presented a paper at “The 40th Anniversary of Watergate: A Commemoration of the Rule of Law.”
Professor Jonathan Entin presented a paper at “The 40th Anniversary of Watergate: A Commemoration of the Rule of Law,” a legal symposium hosted by Chapman University School of Law. The symposium explored the legal, social, and political significance of the Watergate scandal. Watergate led several legal reforms, such as changes in the rules of legal ethics to prevent future scandals, and a permanent altering of presidential powers and immunities.
Professor Entin spoke about the lessons of Watergate for addressing misconduct by high-level executive officials as part of a panel that focused on “The Constitutional Significance of Watergate: New Perspectives.” Other high-profile speakers of the event included: John Dean (who was counsel to President Nixon during the Watergate scandal), Alexander Butterfield (who revealed the existence of Nixon's taping system), and Jill Wine-Banks (who, as assistant special prosecutor, played a major role in the cover-up trial).
“The conference brought together a unique combination of people who played important roles in the legal response to Watergate and scholars who have thought carefully about the scandal's enduring significance,” Entin said. The conference was broadcast live on the Chapman website, and later aired on C-SPAN.

Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
