Students succeed at National First Amendment Moot Court Competition
We are extremely proud of our students, Ben Skomsky '12 and Ben Galea '12, who represented our law school in the National First Amendment Moot Court Competition hosted by the First Amendment Center and Vanderbilt University Law School. The team performed exceptionally in four rounds of arguments, with Ben Galea taking home the Richard S. Arnold Award for Best Oralist in the competition. The competition, which is by invitation only, is recognized as one of the nation’s finest constitutional-law competitions and attracts many of the nation’s top law schools. This year’s problem involved the display of a 9/11 memorial with a religious symbol on government property. The competitors examined the intersection between the government-speech doctrine and the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. The team was coached by Steven Chang, a 2011 graduate and member of last year’s team, and Professor Jennifer Cupar.

Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
