Congratulations to our First Amendment Moot Court Team!
I am happy to report a successful experience for another one of the law school’s moot court teams. The First Amendment team, Gretchen Woodruff Root and Benjamin Kurtis, finished in 5th place in the National First Amendment Moot Court Competition hosted by the First Amendment Center and Vanderbilt University Law School. The competition, which is by invitation only, is recognized as one of the nation’s finest constitutional-law competitions and attracts many of the nation’s top law schools. To make it to the quarterfinal round, Gretchen and Ben had to beat 28 other teams, including teams from schools such as New York University, Cornell, Duke, and Georgetown. This was Case’s first year in the competition, and the team certainly represented the school well.
Gretchen, Ben, and their coach Jennifer Cupar would like to thank the many professors and students who judged the team’s practice rounds before the competition. The practice rounds were excellent preparation for the team as a number of the questions they were asked in the competition were the same as those they had received in their practices.

Footnote:
Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
