The First Amendment team, third year students Gretchen Woodruff Root and Benjamin Kurtis, made it to the final eight teams in the National First Amendment Moot Court Competition hosted by the First Amendment Center and Vanderbilt University Law School. The competition, which is by invitation only, is recognized as one of the nation’s finest constitutional-law competitions and attracts many of the nation’s top law schools. To make it to the quarterfinal round, the CWRU team had to beat 28 other teams, including teams from schools such as New York University, Cornell, Duke, and Georgetown.

This was the first year CWRU participated in the competition. The team is coached by Professor Jennifer Cupar.
