International Law Moot Court team wins Niagara Cup competition
The Case Western Reserve University School of Law's Niagara International Law Moot Court team won the international competition held in Toronto Feb. 27-28, 2009. The was composed of 3L Michael Pierson, 3L Katie Watson, 2L Brin Anderson, and 1L Katharine Quaglieri.
The team beat out 20 other US and Canadian law school teams (including American University School of Law in the Semis and University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in the Finals) to capture the prestigious Niagara Cup.
In a virtual sweep of accolades, CWRU also won the awards for Best Applicant Argument, Best Respondent Argument, Second Place Advocate (Pierson), Third Place Advocate (Anderson), and Fifth Place Advocate (Watson).
The team was coached by professors Cassandra Robertson and Karla Bell. Organized by the Canada-US Law Institute, this year's Niagara Competition involved issues of law of the sea, national security law, extraterritorial jurisdiction, and official immunities.
