National moot court competition achievements
At the 2010 regional competition, CWRU was the only school to have two teams advance to the semi-finals. The School of Law’s teams placed second and fourth with one student winning Best Oralist and the team briefs placing third and fourth overall. The second place team consisting of Angie Daling, Will York and Jimmy Hoffman, student coached by Morgan Sigman, and coached by Professor Katy Mercer, advanced to the national finals in New York City, where they advanced to Day 3, the “sweet sixteen round,” defeating 12 of the other law schools who represented the United States in the National Competition, and ultimately won on orals. This year's National Problem involved what standard a court should apply when deciding a motion for a preliminary injunction where it cannot determine with certainty that the movant is more likely than not to prevail on the merits of the underlying claim, and whether a city's Healthcare Security Ordinance was preempted by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ("ERISA"). Over 190 law schools from across the country competed in this national competition.

Footnote:
Case is on the rise.
We are one of the only law schools in the country to have experienced any rise in median LSATs last year, and ours rose a whopping 2 points. Our university, ranked #37th by U.S. News & World Report, is attracting record numbers of applicants.
