Our Students & Programs
Our school.
Case Western Reserve University School of Law is one of the nation’s leading law schools, characterized by its rigorous and diverse curriculum, strong student body, superb faculty, and outstanding resources. Founded in 1892, our school has been ABA-accredited since 1923 and is a charter member of the Order of the Coif and Association of American Law Schools. We offer curricular concentrations in a variety of areas, including our top ranked health law program, and our nationally-regarded international law program. Other concentrations include law, technology, and the arts; business organizations; litigation; public law; criminal law; and national security law.
Our students.
Our law school community has over 700 students enrolled in the JD program. Over half of our students have taken time off between college and law school. Before beginning their legal studies, they have worked in diverse professional careers, such as doctors, journalists, stock analysts, CPAs, teachers, biologists, architects, engineers, nurses, and computer programmers. They come to our law school from well over 300 undergraduate institutions, approximately 45 states, and over 10 foreign countries. They bring intellectual talent, motivation, and professional experience to our law school community.
Our curriculum.
Over the past nine years we have introduced over 130 new courses, eight academic concentrations, two additional dual-degree programs, four new Academic Centers, and our ground-breaking CaseArc Integrated Lawyering Skills Program. On the cutting edge of law school instruction, our CaseArc Integrated Lawyering Skills Program is known for being one of the first and most intensive practical lawyering skills programs in the country. It remains at the forefront of a revolutionary new style of law school instruction and successfully prepares students to become more effective practicing lawyers by preparing them with lawyering skills training throughout their legal education.
The curriculum at our law school also includes the opportunity to participate in Law Review or one of four other academic journals, as well as extensive clinical and externship opportunities. All of this comprises our intensive experiential education program that promises practice-ready students from the moment they graduate.

Getting Involved
Our office appreciates the experience and advice that employers and their attorneys can provide to current students as they explore options and embark on their legal careers. We look to partner with employers to improve their visibility on campus while also educating our students about legal markets, tips for successful job searches, the diversity of employment opportunities, and more. Below are some of the ways that your organization can become more involved with our law school:
Speak on a panel
. Throughout the academic year, our office hosts a variety of programs and panels addressing different practice areas, trends in the law, interview tips, resume tips, networking, and more. Consider speaking on one of these panels or giving a presentation about your area of law or career path. To learn more, to volunteer, or to suggest a program, please call Donna Davis, 216-368-1499.
Serve as a mock interviewer
. Each winter, our office hosts a Mock Interview Saturday, which invites alumni and other practicing attorneys to the school to conduct mock interviews with current students. These mock interviews give the students an opportunity to practice their skills and to receive feedback from someone who’s “been there and done that”. We strive to include interviewers from all types of employers, including private practice, government, corporate, and public interest. The next Mock Interview Saturday will take place on January 26, 2013. To learn more or to volunteer, please call Heather DiFranco at 216-368-6353.
Engage in informational interviews
. Our office maintains an "opt-in" database of alumni and other attorneys who have expressed a desire to speak with current students about their law practice, job search techniques, the legal market in their city or state, and other issues related to navigating the career path. We are looking for attorneys nationwide to join this network. To join the database, register and complete your profile in our
online portal
. To learn more, call Donna Davis, 216-368-1499.
Conduct an employer outreach meeting
. Throughout the year, our Director of Employer Outreach travels the country to meet with employers in an effort to learn what employers are looking for in job candidates and to share information about our law school and our students. Consider sharing your advice and knowledge with us in this way. To learn more or to schedule a meeting, please call Mary Beth Moore at 216-368-6353.
